Gerhard Smit is an artist who specializes in the art of wildlife, horses and still photography paintings. He initially started off as an art teacher but then decided to pursue painting as a full time career. In 1998 he started taking wildlife photos, using them as inspiration for his artwork and capturing the essence of each shot. In 2001 he started working exclusively in oil, doing not only wild life but also landscapes.
Gerhard also has a passion for Arabian horses, which he shares with his daughters. They breed them and also compete in endurance rides.
All of Gerhard’s work is unique, there are no reproductions. His passion for nature and the love of the wild is tangible in his artwork.
